Key Responsibilities Design and synthesize novel small molecule compounds with potential anti-cancer activity. Optimize lead compounds to improve potency, selectivity, pharmacokinetic properties, and safety profiles. Develop and execute synthetic routes for target molecules, troubleshooting challenges as they arise. Collaborate with biologists and pharmacologists to test and evaluate synthesized compounds. Analyze and interpret SAR data to guide iterative design-make-test-analyze cycles. Utilize computational chemistry tools and databases to inform compound design. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in medicinal chemistry, organic synthesis, and cancer biology. Contribute to patent filings and scientific publications. Mentor junior chemists and contribute to the overall scientific direction of the team. Manage project timelines and contribute to strategic planning for discovery programs. Requirements Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry. Minimum of 5 years of postdoctoral or industry experience in medicinal chemistry, preferably in oncology drug discovery. Demonstrated expertise in synthetic organic chemistry and a proven track record of designing and synthesizing complex molecules. Strong understanding of SAR principles and experience in iterative lead optimization. Familiarity with drug discovery processes and multidisciplinary team collaboration. Experience with common analytical techniques (NMR, LC-MS, HPLC) for compound characterization. Excellent problem-solving skills and creativity in synthetic design.
