Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting for a Senior Medical Science Liaison - Hematology based in the Western Michigan territory (Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, Flint, and Kalamazoo).

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a scientific engagement plan for the territory aligned with Medical Affairs strategy.

• Engage in high quality, two-way scientific exchange with KOLs and HCPs, challenging current thinking and identifying trends, unmet needs, and educational gaps.

• Identify and cultivate professional relationships with community and academic HCPs/KOLs in the territory.

• Utilize insights and MSL tools to develop a strategic approach for customer engagements, proactively uncover gaps, risks, and opportunities.

• Leverage AI tools and insights to enhance decision making, streamline processes, and improve outcomes across core responsibilities.

• Identify provider educational needs and address them with tailored responses by framing data in a compelling, scientifically balanced, and medically appropriate manner.

• Deliver relevant scientific data tailored to HCP needs through clear dialogue and presentation that translates complex clinical evidence into meaningful discussion.

• Collect and submit high quality actionable insights aligned with current strategic priorities of the organization.

• Provide point‑of‑contact support to investigators and internal partners for both company‑sponsored and investigator‑initiated studies.

• Respond to unsolicited research/clinical inquiries from external stakeholders promptly with scientifically sound, objective, and compliant information.

• Execute Medical Affairs strategy and MSL priorities while balancing short‑term execution with long‑term objectives.

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders (MSL field partners, R&D, US and Global Medical Affairs, clinical operations) and demonstrate understanding of the matrixed environment.

• Demonstrate strong scientific acumen through self‑study, journal clubs, seminars, congresses, and discussions with peers.

• Foster a culture of inclusion and belonging, increasing engagement, productivity, and innovation at local and national levels.

• Develop a thorough understanding of regulatory and health care compliance guidelines, corporate policies, Medical Affairs SOPs and guidelines.

• In collaboration with direct manager, develop and implement a performance and development plan and conduct additional leadership projects.

• Perform all administrative requirements in a timely, accurate and compliant manner (e.g., expense reports, documentation of activities).

Qualifications

• A Doctorate level degree or equivalent experience (PharmD, PhD, MD, Advanced Practice Providers, etc.) with postgraduate experience and preference for therapeutic clinical experience.

• 2+ years of relevant experience, including demonstrated success as an MSL.

• Scientific acumen: strong expertise with research, data analysis, clinical expertise, problem‑solving, strategic thinking, and cross‑functional collaboration.

• Ability to support a defined territory with up to 70% travel (in‑territory visits, internal meetings, external congresses, and related events).

• Must hold a valid U.S. Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications

• Residency/fellowship preferred.

• Knowledge or experience of the therapeutic area.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CoPilot, and utilization of computers and remote technologies.

• Related clinical, research, or pharma work experience.

Salary and Benefits

Base pay range: $137,000 – $235,750. Eligible for a company car through the Company’s FLEET program. Employees may also participate in company employee benefit programs such as health insurance, savings plan, pension plan, disability plan, vacation pay, sick time, holiday pay, and work, personal and family time off.
