Summary of Position
This is a remote position that will require up to 20%-25% travel. Candidate can be located anywhere in the United States.
The Senior Medical Director – Prostate Cancer Nuclear Imaging will serve as the medical lead for prostate cancer nuclear imaging modalities. This leader will drive the development and execution of medical strategy supporting launch and lifecycle management, ensuring alignment across Clinical Development, Commercial, and Market Access functions. The role requires deep expertise in prostate cancer and nuclear imaging to enable impactful scientific engagement, appropriate use of imaging agents, and optimization of patient outcomes.
Essential Functions
• Lead the development and execution of integrated medical affairs strategies and tactical plans for prostate cancer nuclear imaging products.
• Provide strategic medical leadership to cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and launch priorities.
• Partner closely with Clinical Development, Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory, and Communications to drive successful product adoption and differentiation.
• Serve as the primary internal and external medical expert for prostate cancer nuclear imaging.
• Act as a subject matter expert in prostate cancer imaging with specialized knowledge of nuclear imaging technologies (e.g., PSMA PET and other advanced diagnostics).
• Collaborate with Clinical Development and R&D to support evidence generation, including imaging endpoints, clinical utility, and health outcomes data.
• Partner with Commercial to support product launch by providing scientific leadership, medical insights, and perspectives on healthcare provider and patient needs.
• Lead medical programs supporting product launch, including publication strategy, congress planning, scientific dissemination, and evidence generation.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders, imaging specialists, oncologists, and professional societies.
• Facilitate scientific exchange to understand evolving diagnostic paradigms, unmet needs, and clinical practice trends.
• Capture and translate external insights into actionable medical strategies and future research initiatives.
• Build and lead a high-performing medical affairs team focused on prostate cancer nuclear imaging.
• Coach and mentor medical directors and scientific staff, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and compliance.
• Drive collaboration and alignment across regional and global teams.
• Ensure all medical activities adhere to regulatory requirements, corporate policies, and ethical standards.
• Oversee budget planning, resource allocation, and operational execution for the medical team.
• Define and monitor KPIs to measure the impact of medical strategies and engagement activities.
• Must maintain operational compliance with US regulatory agencies and guidelines (primarily FDA and NRC), and collaborate with European based Legal Department colleagues on matters that touch and concern foreign legal / regulatory requirements.
Requirements
• Advanced degree (MD, DO, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent) required; specialization in nuclear medicine, radiology, oncology or urology strongly preferred.
• Board-certified/eligible nuclear medicine physician or diagnostic radiologist strongly preferred; oncology experience (particularly prostate cancer) highly desirable.
• Significant experience in medical affairs, clinical development, or related roles within the biopharmaceutical or imaging space (typically 10+ years).
• Demonstrated expertise in prostate cancer and nuclear imaging (e.g., radiopharmaceuticals, PET imaging); clinical experience in nuclear medicine, radiology, or uro-oncology highly desirable.
• Proven leadership experience with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams.
• Strong experience in product launches, ideally within oncology or diagnostic imaging.
• Established relationships with key opinion leaders and professional societies in nuclear medicine and/or oncology.
• Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Working Conditions
• This position will work in typical office conditions with extensive time using personal computer equipment.
• May be required to sit or stand for long periods of time while performing duties.
• Close attention to detail required.
• Willingness to work in a team-based environment.
• The position deals with many deadlines. Due to the short turnaround time of deadlines and limited time, overtime, weekend work and holiday work is sometimes required.
• Ability to travel domestically and potentially Internationally as required.
