Senior Medical Director – Internal Dosimetry (Radiopharmaceuticals / Radioligand Therapy)
I am currently partnering on a search for a Senior Medical Director – Internal Dosimetry to provide scientific and strategic leadership across clinical-stage radiopharmaceutical and radioligand therapy programs.
This opportunity is designed for a leader with deep expertise in the assessment of radiation dose delivered by injected therapeutic radionuclides, supporting the development of next-generation targeted oncology therapies.
This role specifically focuses on internal dosimetry for therapeutic radionuclides and is not focused on external beam radiation dosimetry, CT dosimetry, or radiation safety programs.
The ideal candidate will bring expertise at the intersection of:
• Therapeutic radiopharmaceutical development
• Internal dosimetry and absorbed dose assessment
• Quantitative SPECT/CT and PET imaging
• Clinical trial design and execution
• Precision oncology and radioligand therapy
Key responsibilities include:
• Leading internal dosimetry strategy across clinical-stage radiopharmaceutical programs
• Developing systems and processes for the interpretation and analysis of serial SPECT, PET, and nuclear medicine scintigraphy images
• Assessing absorbed radiation dose in target organs and tissues following administration of therapeutic radionuclides
• Designing and implementing nuclear medicine imaging acquisition protocols
• Supporting camera calibration, image standardization, and site activation activities
• Performing and overseeing dosimetry modeling and absorbed dose calculations
• Utilizing OLINDA and related internal dosimetry platforms
• Providing scientific leadership for protocol development, study oversight, and regulatory support activities
• Collaborating with Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, Imaging, Regulatory, Safety, and Biostatistics teams
The ideal background includes:
• PhD, DABR, or equivalent training in Medical Physics, Nuclear Medicine, Radiopharmaceutical Sciences, or related disciplines
• Significant experience in internal dosimetry for injected therapeutic radionuclides
• Experience with alpha and beta emitting therapeutics, including Lu-177, Ac-225, Pb-212, and related isotopes
• Expertise in quantitative SPECT/CT and PET imaging workflows
• Extensive experience with absorbed dose calculations and dosimetry modeling
• Proficiency with OLINDA or equivalent dosimetry software platforms
• Clinical research and cross-functional leadership experience within radiopharmaceutical development
Compensation & Location
• Base salary: $325,000–$400,000
• Target bonus: 16%
• Location: Remote
