Job Title: Sr. Manager – Oncology & Multispecialty Communications
Location: Dallas or The Woodlands, Texas (REQUIRED)
Hybrid/Onsite/Remote: HYBRID position
Position Summary
This role is responsible for internal and external communications for McKesson’s North American Pharmaceutical Services (NAPS) Oncology & Multispecialty businesses. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of achievement in a highly matrixed organization and excels at building and influencing strong cross‑functional relationships. This role also requires the ability to leverage AI‑powered tools and workflows to enhance employee experience, accelerate execution, and deliver impactful messaging aligned with business goals.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and execute public relations strategies and plans supporting key business priorities, while advancing the broader Oncology & Multispecialty vision and the McKesson enterprise vision, including the use of AI‑driven insights to refine message positioning and strengthen storytelling.
• Supervise external consultants, vendors, and agency resources as necessary and appropriate.
• Collaborate closely with functions such as marketing, public affairs, legal, and others to shape and optimize plans and execution.
• Amplify differentiated capabilities and solutions in earned media coverage and across paid, earned, and owned channels.
• Include speaking opportunities, bylines, social media, newsletters, website content, etc.
• Strategically use AI‑powered drafting and editing tools (Microsoft Copilot) to scale content production without sacrificing quality.
• Conduct proactive and responsive media relations, including relationship management with key beat reporters and use of AI tools to monitor sentiment, trends, and timely opportunities.
• Protect brand equity and customer loyalty through issues management.
• Activate a thought‑leadership engine on topics where the organization is uniquely poised to deliver.
• Contribute to the planning and execution of internal forums, such as town halls and sales conferences.
• Manage executive communications for key business leaders.
• Lead change communications supporting organization’s business needs.
• Leverage internal channels to strategically connect employees to NAPS key imperatives and goals.
• Collaborate with Corporate Affairs colleagues to strengthen functional capabilities, including identifying opportunities to automate routine tasks, design AI workflows, and deploy Copilot agents that enhance productivity and scale communications processes.
Expertise / Capabilities
• Demonstrated excellence in organizational communications, media relations, change communications, issues management, data and milestone communications, with the ability to use AI‑enhanced tools to elevate precision, clarity and impact, including proficiency with AI‑powered drafting and content development platforms (Microsoft Copilot).
• Exceptional writing and editing skills.
• Deep expertise working in healthcare media.
• Strong relationship‑building skills, problem‑solving abilities, and comfort negotiating solutions across competing interests.
• Executive presence and experience working in a counselor capacity with senior leaders, supported by the ability to use AI technologies to prepare briefs, insights and executive messaging efficiently.
• Outstanding judgment, multi‑tasking ability and strong prioritization skills in a fast‑paced environment, constantly striving for excellence.
• Self‑starter mentality with the ability to learn quickly and adopt new tools to enhance communications outcomes.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to anticipate company and team needs.
• Ability to manage projects and shifting priorities, multitask effectively and meet aggressive deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Ability to travel – 30 %
Minimum Job Qualifications
• Education / Training – 4‑year degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Journalism, English, or relevant field.
• Required Business Experience – 9+ years of internal, executive, and/or external communications or related experience.
• Healthcare communications experience mandatory.
• Minimum Education & Typical Experience or Equivalent Combination – Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Must be authorized to work in the US. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
Compensation
Base Pay Range: $102,000 – $170,000. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long‑term incentive opportunities, may be offered. For more information regarding benefits at McKesson, please see the benefits page.
