Experteer Overview
In this role, you will lead and oversee oncology transactions to advance AstraZeneca's R&D portfolio. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to structure, negotiate, and close deals across licensing, acquisitions, and collaborations. You’ll drive strategic alignment with science goals and leverage external networks to fuel growth. Your work will shape partnerships, improve deal processes, and enable impactful oncology programs at scale.

Compensation / Benefits
• Lead transactional activities across licensing, out-licensing, acquisitions, divestments, and collaborations
• Build and maintain external networks with biotech, academia, venture firms, and other oncology stakeholders
• Manage deal negotiations and closures
• Prepare and communicate transactional aspects to senior governance bodies
• Collaborate with deal finance, legal, commercial teams to align activities with disease and science strategies
• Ensure smooth transition to alliance management for post-deal matters
• Produce activity and achievement reports for senior management
• Identify and implement process improvements using emerging technologies (AI and automation)
• Represent AZ in external partnering events and industry forums
• Contribute to BD team mission to position AZ as partner of choice

Tasks
• 5+ years in life sciences industry
• Experience in BD, licensing or commercial roles in biopharma/pharmaceuticals
• Proven deal leadership across licensing or collaboration transactions
• Strong knowledge of oncology disease areas and drug development
• Excellent prioritization and negotiation skills
• Ability to understand complex contracts, scientific and financial evaluations
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and data-driven communication
• Extensive experience interacting with senior external partners and banks/VCs
• Ability to represent AZ at external events
• Decision-making with conviction and clear communication
