Job Description
APX Life Science is partnering with a growing biopharmaceutical organization who are seeking to appoint a Senior Director, Medical Affairs to play a key leadership role in launching a new drug in the field of neurosciences. This is a high‑visibility position with significant strategic and scientific impact in the medical affairs group.
This role provides strategic leadership within Medical Affairs, overseeing medical strategy, evidence development, and cross‑functional coordination for a late‑stage therapeutic asset in the neuroscience and sleep‑related disorders space. The position requires converting scientific, clinical, and business insights into actionable medical plans that support launch readiness and ensure alignment across adjacent programs. The individual will work closely with partners across Medical Affairs, Commercial, Clinical Development, Biostatistics, and other internal groups, and will routinely represent the function to senior leaders and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
• Act as a scientific authority in sleep medicine and neuroscience, maintaining deep familiarity with emerging therapies, evolving standards of care, competitive activity, and payer dynamics.
• Evaluate and synthesize clinical, scientific, and real‑world data to identify strategic needs, risks, and opportunities that strengthen the medical value narrative for the asset.
• Direct the development and execution of medical affairs strategy and launch preparation, ensuring medical plans are aligned with broader organizational objectives.
• Lead the cross‑functional medical strategy team and contribute to program‑level governance and launch‑focused working groups.
• Oversee scientific and medical communication activities, including review and approval of publications, investigator‑initiated research proposals, medical education grants, and scientific corporate materials.
• Shape priorities for independent research and collaborate with Regulatory and Lifecycle Management teams on phase 3b/4 study concepts designed to expand the evidence base and support future label evolution.
• Work with other medical directors in the sleep‑medicine domain to define medical education themes and assess CME grant submissions.
• Build and sustain relationships with key opinion leaders, academic researchers, professional societies, and patient advocacy organizations.
• Partner with Health Outcomes and Patient Advocacy teams to ensure patient perspectives inform clinical development and medical planning.
• Deliver scientific training and medical support to internal teams across functions.
• Represent Medical Affairs in discussions with senior leadership and contribute to high‑level decision‑making.
Qualifications
• Medical degree (MD), PhD or PharmD required; additional experience or training in neuroscience is advantageous.
• At least 5 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical sector, within Medical Affairs, with a product launch track record
• Experience contributing to or reviewing peer‑reviewed scientific publications.
• Strong scientific grounding, adaptability, and creative problem‑solving capabilities.
• Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements relevant to Medical Affairs.
