School-Based Physical Therapist - Shelton, Washington

Take on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting K-12 students as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist for the 2026-27 school year. In this onsite role, youll play a key part in helping students with visual impairments achieve independence and success in their academic environment.

Your expertise will directly support the educational journey of students, providing essential orientation and mobility evaluations, travel training, and specially designed instruction tailored to individual needs.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Education is required; Masters degree in Special Education highly valued

• Valid Washington State Education Staff Associate (ESA) Certificate with Special Education endorsement as an Orientation and Mobility Instructor

• Experience working within school settings and a strong understanding of K-12 student needs

• Outstanding communication and collaboration skills to partner with teachers, students, and families

• Organized, adaptable, and able to work independently within a dynamic educational team

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive orientation and mobility evaluations for students with visual impairments across varied grade levels

• Develop and deliver individualized, specially designed instruction to promote safety, independence, and confidence

• Provide travel training and ongoing support, preparing students to navigate both school and community settings

• Collaborate with IEP teams, including teachers and specialists, to develop and update student plans

• Maintain detailed notes and documentation in compliance with district and state requirements

• Participate in staff meetings, training, and family consultations as needed
