School-Based Physical Therapist - Rochester, WA

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist, supporting K-12 students in the upcoming 2026-27 school year. This onsite role centers on providing critical orientation and mobility evaluations, designing individualized instruction, and delivering travel training for students with visual impairments. Youll play a meaningful role in helping each student achieve greater independence and access to their educational environment.

Key Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Education required; Masters in Special Education preferred

• Valid Washington State Education Staff Associate (ESA) Certificate with endorsement in Special Education as an Orientation and Mobility Instructor

• Previous experience working in K-12 school settings or with students with visual impairments is highly valued

• Strong collaboration skills to work alongside other educators, families, and support staff

• Ability to assess student needs and develop tailored instructional plans

Core Responsibilities:

• Conduct formal orientation and mobility evaluations for students with visual impairments

• Create and implement customized instructional strategies to address individual student goals

• Teach students safe and effective travel techniques in school, home, and community settings

• Collaborate with general and special education staff, family members, and related service providers

• Maintain detailed documentation and progress reports following district and state guidelines

• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to individualized student program development
