Job Summary

Position: RN Inpatient – Bone Marrow Transplant Unit (Full Time/PRN) within the Aphaeresis Lab and BMT, Main Campus, Jackson. This role assesses, develops, implements, and evaluates nursing care for patients within the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, coordinating patient services, education, and interdisciplinary communication.
Responsibilities
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care and treatments for patients.
• Educate patients and families on condition status, treatment plans, diet, medication schedules, and side‑effect management.
• Ensure patient safety and coordinate referrals to specialty services.
• Maintain accurate, detailed patient records and update documentation promptly.
• Serve as a preceptor in accordance with UMMC guidelines for new staff and interns.
• Report patient issues or concerns to supervisors as appropriate.
• Participate in at least one nursing council, committee, task force, or project team to improve patient care or workflow.
• Demonstrate exceptional customer service standards in all patient interactions.
Qualifications
• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• CS in clinical nursing care procedures and protocols.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
• Proficiency with computer systems, tools, and programs.
• Ability to thrive in a team‑oriented environment and adapt to evolving clinical demands.
Physical and Environmental Demands

The role may involve exposure to a busy and occasionally high‑noise environment, temperature extremes, biohazardous materials, and handling of potentially dangerous equipment. Tasks may require frequent bending, lifting, stretching, and standing, often beyond regular working hours. Employees should be prepared for continuous, variable demands associated with clinical practice.
