Job Description
The Institute for Public Health Practice, Research and Policy is hiring a 50% Research Support Coordinator - Cancer Screening and Outreach to provide entry-level programmatic, financial, and administrative support for a grant-funded cancer prevention and screening initiative under Iowa's Healthy Hometowns Rural Health Transformation Plan. This position supports coordination of community outreach and screening activities across partner hospitals, assists with invoicing and tracking, data collection and reporting, and helps ensure compliance with grant and University requirements. This role operates under general supervision and follows established procedures to support program implementation, data management, and operational functions. This role contributes to strengthening statewide capacity, supporting hub‑and‑spoke implementation, and improving access to high‑quality cancer care in rural Iowa.
Post‑Award Administration/Financial Responsibility
Prepare and process invoices for services provided under the contract
Track invoice submissions and assist with reconciliation of payments
Verify that required supporting documentation is included with invoices
Assist with monitoring program accounts and expenditures for accuracy
Maintain organized financial and grant documentation records
Support preparation of financial and program reports
Grant Exploration and Development
Assist in monitoring compliance with contract and grant terms, University policies, and state and federal regulations
Track adherence to program protocols related to outreach, screening, and data reporting
Maintain documentation to support compliance and audit readiness
Identify discrepancies or missing information and elevate issues for resolution
Support continuous improvement of program processes and workflows
Compliance
Assist with the preparation of grant reports and documentation required by Iowa HHS and other entities
Monitor compliance with grant and contract requirements and maintain records aligned with institutional, state, and federal guidelines
Track program expenditures, reconcile statements, and support documentation needs for deliverable‑based reimbursement
Maintain organized, audit‑ready files for financial documentation, deliverables, and approvals
Program Support
Assist with coordination and implementation of program activities, including community outreach and screening events
Organize and facilitate meetings, events, and trainings; prepare agendas and materials
Respond to program‑related inquiries and provide general administrative support
Assist with outreach and stakeholder engagement efforts
Update program website content and materials
Support limited external communications consistent with program messaging
Information Management
Assist with coordination, collection, and preparation of program data from partner sites
Communications & Stakeholder Support
Coordinate meeting schedules, agendas, materials, and follow‑up actions for advisory groups, partners, and working teams as requested.
Support consistent communication among internal team members, rural health partners, and state agencies.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business or related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrative organizational and administrative support experience.
Excellent communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
Experience with data management, data entry or reporting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience with invoicing, financial tracking, or basic accounting processes.
Familiarity with public health programs, community outreach, or rural health initiatives.
Knowledge of University policies, procedures and regulations.
Experience maintaining website content.
