Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN)-Acute Care - MedSurg Oncology FT Nights

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN)-Acute Care - MedSurg Oncology to provide high-quality nursing care to patients receiving treatment for cancer and other complex medical conditions. The Registered Nurse (RN)-Acute Care - MedSurg Oncology will provide comprehensive bedside nursing care, monitor patient conditions, administer medications and treatments, coordinate care with healthcare professionals, and support patients and families throughout their healthcare journey. The Registered Nurse (RN)-Acute Care - MedSurg Oncology will work closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote safe and effective patient outcomes.

The Registered Nurse (RN)-Acute Care - MedSurg Oncology is responsible for completing detailed patient assessments, developing individualized nursing care plans, administering medications, monitoring vital signs, managing symptoms, and recognizing changes in patient conditions. The Registered Nurse (RN)-Acute Care - MedSurg Oncology will care for patients who may experience complex medical needs associated with cancer treatment, chemotherapy, surgery, infection, pain, fatigue, nutritional concerns, and other acute conditions. This Registered Nurse (RN)-Acute Care - MedSurg Oncology role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced acute care environment.

The Registered Nurse (RN)-Acute Care - MedSurg Oncology will provide patient-centered care while maintaining safety, dignity, privacy, and respect. The Registered Nurse (RN)-Acute Care - MedSurg Oncology will educate patients and families about medications, treatment plans, symptom management, discharge instructions, and follow-up care. The Registered Nurse (RN)-Acute Care - MedSurg Oncology will also document patient information accurately and ensure compliance with established nursing standards, infection prevention practices, and healthcare regulations.

Responsibilities:
• Performs the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, using evidence-based practice and critical thinking.
• Provides individualized, patient-centered care based on patient needs, condition, age, gender, disease, and cultural considerations.
• Partners with patients and families to establish care goals, provide education, and coordinate the plan of care.
• Practices according to current clinical practice standards and promotes safe, high-quality patient care.
• Coordinates patient care and maintains timely, accurate clinical documentation.
• Collaborates effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Participates in performance improvement, nursing research, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
• Supports shared governance and promotes a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative clinical environment.
• Completes required professional competency assessments, mandatory education, and population-specific training.
• Serves as a preceptor or mentor for nurses, staff, and students as appropriate.
• Upholds organizational policies, clinical competencies, professional standards, and applicable legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
• Supports patient safety initiatives and established healthcare system safety standards.
• Participates in data collection and uses appropriate clinical resources, experts, and evidence to address practice questions.
• Proactively plans patient care across the care continuum.
• Participates in developing protocols and procedures to improve patient outcomes and reduce readmissions, avoidable days, and adverse events.
• Supports efficient and effective use of human and material resources.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

Education:
• Associates Nursing or Diploma (Nurse) Nursing or Bachelors Nursing-Preferred

Certifications:
• RN - Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN-COMPACT - RN - Multi-state Compact
• BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor

Experience:
• Minimum 5 years RN experience Required direct patient care experience Preferred
