Job Title:Registered Nurse (RN) - Acute Care - MedSurg Oncology - FT Night
We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) - Acute Care - MedSurg Oncology to join our healthcare team. The Registered Nurse (RN) - Acute Care - MedSurg Oncology will provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients receiving treatment for cancer and other complex medical conditions in an acute care environment. The Registered Nurse (RN) - Acute Care - MedSurg Oncology will assess patients, administer medications and treatments, monitor changes in clinical status, coordinate care, and support patients and families throughout their healthcare journey.
The Registered Nurse (RN) - Acute Care - MedSurg Oncology will work closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, nursing assistants, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to deliver safe and effective patient-centered care. The Registered Nurse (RN) - Acute Care - MedSurg Oncology must demonstrate strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize care for multiple patients with complex needs.
The Registered Nurse (RN) - Acute Care - MedSurg Oncology is responsible for performing comprehensive patient assessments, developing individualized nursing care plans, administering medications, monitoring laboratory results, managing symptoms, and identifying potential complications. The Registered Nurse (RN) - Acute Care - MedSurg Oncology may care for patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation-related treatments, surgical recovery, blood products, pain management, and supportive oncology therapies according to applicable clinical protocols and scope of practice.
Responsibilities:
• Performs the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, using evidence-based practice and critical thinking.
• Provides individualized, patient-centered care based on patient needs, condition, age, and cultural considerations.
• Partners with patients and families to establish care goals, provide education, and coordinate the plan of care.
• Practices according to current clinical standards and promotes safe, high-quality patient care.
• Coordinates patient care and maintains timely, accurate clinical documentation.
• Collaborates effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Participates in performance improvement, nursing research, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
• Supports shared governance and promotes a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative clinical environment.
• Completes required professional competency assessments, mandatory education, and population-specific training.
• Serves as a preceptor or mentor for nurses, staff, and students as appropriate.
• Upholds organizational policies, clinical competencies, professional standards, and applicable legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
• Supports patient safety initiatives and established healthcare system safety standards.
• Participates in data collection and uses appropriate clinical resources and evidence to address practice questions.
• Proactively plans patient care across the care continuum.
• Participates in developing protocols and procedures to improve patient outcomes and reduce readmissions, avoidable days, and adverse events.
• Uses human and material resources efficiently and responsibly.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all Wellstar Health Systems, Inc. policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Education:
• Associates Nursing or Diploma (Nurse) Nursing or Bachelors Nursing-Preferred
Certifications:
• RN - Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN-COMPACT - RN - Multi-state Compact
• BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor
Experience:
• Less than 1 year Completion of accredited/ approved school of nursing with requisition clinical hours Required direct patient care experience Preferred
