Registered Nurse - Radiation Oncology

Johnston-Willis Hospital, part of HCA Virginia Health System, seeks a Registered Nurse - Radiation Oncology to deliver safe, evidence-based care to oncology patients across the radiation treatment continuum. Responsibilities include comprehensive assessments, treatment preparation and monitoring, patient and family education, symptom and side-effect management, and coordination with radiation oncologists, physicists, and therapists. The RN will follow oncology protocols, administer medications, manage central lines, and maintain accurate documentation. Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive nursing assessments for radiation oncology patients before, during, and after treatment
• Administer prescribed medications and supportive therapies, including chemotherapy adjuncts when applicable
• Monitor patients for side effects, toxicities, and treatment complications; implement appropriate interventions
• Educate patients and families on radiation therapy, symptom management, and post-treatment care
• Coordinate care with radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, physicists, and radiation therapists
• Manage central lines, infusion devices, and specialized oncology equipment per policy
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the electronic health record
• Follow evidence-based oncology protocols, safety standards, and infection prevention practices
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives
• Precept or mentor new staff and contribute to a collaborative, patient-centered unit culture
