Position Overview
This role is for a registered nurse responsible for providing patient care in a 30-bed oncology unit, caring for patients aged 18 and older. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 4-6:1. The department emphasizes education, shared governance, and mentorship programs, supporting oncology nursing certification and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive initial assessments and develop individualized care plans based on patient and family needs.
Implement and modify nursing interventions, including administering chemotherapy/biotherapy, medications, and performing procedures like starting IVs, inserting NG tubes, and dressing changes.
Maintain accurate documentation, ensure patient and staff safety, and report hazards or incidents.
Provide emotional support to patients and families, and collaborate with the healthcare team to deliver holistic care.
Foster professional development through constructive feedback and continuous learning.
Qualifications & Skills
Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) with current licensure and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Minimum of one year of RN experience, preferably with oncology skills including inpatient chemotherapy and radiation.
Strong communication, documentation, and clinical skills to deliver safe, compassionate, and effective care.
