Position Details:
• Primary Location: 5 Neponset Street, Worcester, MA, 01606
• Secondary Location: 24 Newton Street, Southborough, Massachusetts, 01772 (travel as needed for coverage)
• Department: Infusion/Hematology/Oncology Specialties
• Schedule: Full time, 38.75 hours/week, Monday through Friday, scheduling between 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
As a Registered Nurse specializing in Infusion Services, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care through the nursing process in an outpatient setting. You will manage the care of patients with Hematologic and Oncologic malignancies as well as non-oncology diagnoses. In collaboration with the provider and care team, you will oversee patient treatment including chemotherapy/Biotherapy and supportive care, adeptly recognizing and responding to changes in patient conditions and diagnostic results.
Your role involves providing a range of medical support services while ensuring optimal patient satisfaction and care quality.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Clinical:
• Deliver direct patient care and evaluate treatment outcomes, consulting with specialists as needed to enhance care quality.
• Utilize critical thinking to provide informed nursing care throughout the patient’s journey.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments that consider psychosocial, spiritual, emotional, and educational needs.
• Effectively manage pain, including assessing pain levels and educating patients and caregivers on pain control methods.
• Adjust treatment plans based on evidence-based practices as patient conditions evolve.
• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of antineoplastic therapies and their physical, psychological, and adverse effects.
• Administer medications safely, understanding the properties and parameters for each drug.
• Calculate dosages accurately based on individual patient characteristics.
• Exhibit proficiency in IV therapy and venous access management.
• Abide by regulations for the safe handling and disposal of harmful agents, educating patients accordingly.
• Perform both simple and complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures effectively.
• Follow the six rights of medication administration to minimize errors.
• Identify and respond to emergency situations with prompt and effective interventions.
• Assess and tailor patient education strategies to optimize learning outcomes.
• Conduct telephone triage with competency, planning appropriate interventions based on patient needs.
• Develop individual discharge plans that encompass education on treatments and coordination with community resources.
• Quality and Safety:
• Adhere to quality control measures and safety protocols regarding medication and infection control.
• Comply with all departmental guidelines and policies.
• Utilize patient care equipment safely and effectively.
• Document all patient interactions comprehensively in the Electronic Medical Record for appropriate reimbursement.
• Expectations:
• Complete required nursing education and competencies.
• Pursue professional growth through educational programs and seminars.
• Participate in required meetings and staff gatherings.
• Perform additional duties as needed or directed.
• Exhibit regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.

Required Qualifications:
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Currently licensed as an RN in the State of Massachusetts.
• Current CPR/BLS Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
• National Oncology Certification or completion within an agreed timeframe.
• Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification.
• 1+ years of infusion/IV experience.
• Phone triage experience.
• Familiarity with EMR systems (EPIC).
• Excellent IV and phlebotomy skills.
Compensation is influenced by various factors such as locality, education, and experience. The hourly pay for this role is expected to range from $28.94 to $51.63, reflecting full-time employment standards.
