Radiation Therapy Technologist

Mercy is seeking a Radiation Therapy Technologist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will deliver precise radiation treatments, operate advanced equipment, follow physician treatment plans, and ensure patient safety and comfort. You'll collaborate with oncologists, nurses, and medical physicists, maintain accurate records, and support quality assurance processes. Responsibilities
• Administer prescribed courses of radiation therapy accurately and safely using linear accelerators and other radiation delivery equipment
• Verify patient identity, treatment site, and physician orders before each treatment, adhering strictly to safety and regulatory standards
• Position and immobilize patients using appropriate devices to ensure reproducible treatment setups and optimal dose delivery
• Collaborate with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and dosimetrists to review treatment plans and confirm technical parameters prior to initiation
• Monitor patients during treatment sessions, observe for adverse reactions, and respond appropriately within scope, escalating concerns to the care team
• Perform daily quality assurance checks, warm up procedures, and basic equipment inspections, promptly reporting any variances or malfunctions
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records and oncology information systems, including treatment delivery data and patient responses
• Educate patients and families about the radiation therapy process, expected side effects, self-care strategies, and safety precautions
• Follow established radiation safety, infection control, and regulatory guidelines to protect patients, staff, and self from unnecessary exposure or risk
• Participate in multidisciplinary huddles, case discussions, and process improvement initiatives to enhance quality and efficiency of care
• Support new staff and students through informal mentoring, sharing best practices, and modeling Mercy's standards of compassionate care
• Contribute to a culture of respect, diversity, and collaboration, actively engaging in professional development and ongoing clinical education
