Role Overview
The Radiation Therapist administers ionizing irradiation to patients based on physician prescriptions, ensuring safety and accuracy during treatment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare treatment rooms and equipment per prescribed protocols, including immobilization devices.
Deliver prescribed radiation doses, explain procedures to patients, and communicate effectively during treatment.
Monitor patients for reactions or complications, reporting any concerns to supervisors and physicians.
Maintain detailed records of treatments, patient charts, and related documentation to ensure accuracy and safety.
Supervise and evaluate students' practical skills in radiation therapy procedures.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support department operations.
Qualifications & Skills
Required certifications: ARRT Radiation Therapy (ARRT-T) and Therapeutic Radiologic Technology (TRT).
Preferred: Bachelor's or Master's degree in radiological technology and relevant experience.
Additional certifications such as CPR/BLS, fluoroscopy permit, are advantageous.
Strong understanding of radiation safety protocols and patient care standards.
