Radiation Therapist

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Radiation Therapist role located in Pensacola, FL. The Radiation Therapist will deliver prescribed radiation treatments safely and accurately, following physician orders and departmental protocols. Responsibilities include operating radiation therapy equipment, performing patient positioning and immobilization, and verifying treatment plans in coordination with dosimetrists, physicists, and radiation oncologists. The role involves monitoring patients during treatment, assessing and documenting responses, providing education on procedures and side effects, and promoting a supportive, patient-centered experience. Daily tasks also include maintaining radiation safety standards, completing accurate records, participating in quality assurance activities, and collaborating with the multidisciplinary care team.
Qualifications
Certification and professional standards: Current registration or eligibility with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy, and compliance with professional and ethical practice standards.
Technical radiation expertise: Proficiency in radiation therapy delivery, radiation safety, and dosimetry concepts to ensure accurate and safe treatment planning and administration.
Clinical knowledge: Strong understanding of radiation, oncology, and medicine as they relate to patient assessment, treatment workflows, and side-effect management.
Patient care and communication: Ability to provide compassionate, culturally sensitive care; clear communication with patients, families, and the care team; and effective patient education regarding treatments.
Safety, quality, and teamwork: Commitment to infection control, equipment and treatment QA, regulatory compliance, and collaboration within an interdisciplinary healthcare environment.
Education and experience: Completion of an accredited radiation therapy or radiologic technology program; prior clinical radiation therapy experience preferred.
Licensure and requirements: State licensure as required by Florida regulations and ability to meet health system onboarding, background, and credentialing standards.
