Position Overview
Guthrie is seeking an accomplished and forward-thinking Chief of Radiation Oncology to provide strategic, clinical, and operational leadership across our Cancer Care service line. This is a unique opportunity for a physician leader passionate about program growth, clinical excellence, and system-wide standardization.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide strategic leadership for Radiation Oncology across the Guthrie system.
• Develop and execute service-line growth initiatives, including expansion of advanced technologies (e.g., SRS capability at the Corning site).
• Standardize clinical practices and workflows to ensure high-quality, consistent care.
• Lead quality improvement and patient satisfaction initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Radiology, and executive leadership.
• Support physician and staff recruitment, retention, and professional development.
• Ensure strong operational oversight of Radiation Oncology services.
Leadership & Reporting Structure
Reports directly to a new Cancer Care Service Line Leader, offering direct executive-level representation. Works with an established and supportive Cancer Care service-line infrastructure and a stable clinical team, including experienced dosimetrists, physicists, RNs, and administrative staff.
Location & Coverage
Primary location: Corning, NY. May include travel and/or rotation to other Guthrie cancer centers to provide leadership support and clinical stability.
Schedule & FTE
Potential schedule of 4 days per week / 10‑hour days. Dedicated administrative and clinical time, with potential for expanded leadership allocation.
Experience & Qualifications
• Minimum of 3–5 years of clinical experience in Radiation Oncology.
• Prior leadership experience strongly preferred (e.g., Medical Director, Site Director).
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage operations, and drive strategic initiatives.
• Strong communication skills and commitment to team‑based, patient-centered care.
Technology & Facilities
• Corning: Trilogy; CT Simulation; TruBeam planned for Fall 2026.
• Cortland: TruBeam.
• Lourdes: TruBeam iX (replacement planned for 2027).
• Sayre: New Edge CT; iX.
