Role Description The Project Manager II role at Parkins is a full-time hybrid position based in San Diego, CA, with some work-from-home flexibility. This role is responsible for leading the planning, development, and implementation of medium-scale, medium-complexity business and technology projects, serving as the single point of contact for economic and regulatory issues on assigned work. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and maintaining project parameters, managing scoping, timelines, and cost estimates, and building business cases and project justifications to support decision-making. The Project Manager collaborates closely with internal departments, stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and vendors to define requirements, weigh alternatives, and present solutions to business challenges. This role also owns budget and resource planning, coordinating all activities needed to bring projects to successful completion while managing risk along the way. It requires proficiency with MS Project or Primavera P6, a PMP certification, and strong communication skills for reporting progress and status to leadership and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- 5-6+ years of direct project management experience on construction or infrastructure programs (Electrical/Gas Substation, Compressor, Transmission, Distribution, IT, or Civil projects)
- PMP certification required; Agile or other Program Management certifications a plus
- Proficiency with MS Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent project management planning tools
- In-depth knowledge of cost management, budget forecasting, and controls
- Demonstrated risk management and mitigation experience, with the ability to serve as the single point of contact for economic and regulatory issues on assigned projects
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Management, or a related field; equivalent experience considered
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, build business cases, and meet deadlines
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally across internal departments, stakeholders, and vendors
- PE license preferred
