Key Responsibilities
• Conduct nuclear medicine imaging procedures following physician orders and established protocols.
• Safely prepare, calculate, and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients.
• Operate and troubleshoot nuclear medicine cameras and related equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Verify patient identity, gather patient history, and explain procedures to patients and their families effectively.
• Monitor patients for any adverse reactions and consistently follow radiation safety standards.
• Process imaging results, evaluate technical quality, and submit studies for professional interpretation.
• Maintain accurate documentation, logs, and quality control records to support efficient operations.
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to provide coordinated care.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory, accreditation, and infection control standards.
• Engage in continuing education and assist in the orientation of new staff or students.
Essential Skills
• Expertise in nuclear medicine imaging procedures.
• Proficient in radiopharmaceutical preparation and dosing techniques.
• Strong understanding of radiation safety and ALARA principles.
• Skills in operating gamma cameras and SPECT/CT systems.
• Experience in image processing and quality control practices.
• Competence in patient identification and assessment methodologies.
• Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation compliance.
• Ability to document effectively in electronic health records.
• Familiarity with infection control practices.
• IV access and injection techniques.
