Precision Toolmaker

Join ALPLA Inc., a global leader in plastic packaging, as a Precision Toolmaker. In this hands-on role, you will create and uphold high-quality molds, tools, and fixtures vital for our sustainable manufacturing processes. Your expertise in interpreting technical drawings and CAD data will be essential as you machine, assemble, and fit various components using both manual and CNC equipment.

You will play a critical role in troubleshooting tooling issues, conducting preventive maintenance, and ensuring dimensional accuracy with precision measuring instruments. Working collaboratively with our engineering and production teams, you will help drive reliability, safety, and continuous improvement within a training-focused culture.

Key Responsibilities
• Fabricate, assemble, and repair precise tools, molds, and fixtures necessary for plastic packaging production.
• Interpret technical drawings, CAD models, and specifications to accurately build tooling within exact tolerances.
• Set up and operate both manual and CNC machining equipment (mills, lathes, grinders) in a safe and efficient manner.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and refurbish existing tooling and mold components.
• Work closely with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to enhance tooling performance and reliability.
• Inspect finished tooling with precision measuring instruments and document work accurately.
• Contribute to ongoing initiatives focused on continuous improvement, safety, and quality in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Required Skills
• Expertise in Toolmaking.
• Proficient in CNC machining.
• Experience with manual machining.
• Knowledge of injection mold building and repair.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and GD&T.
• Familiarity with precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
• Experience with CAD/CAM systems.
• Understanding of heat treatment and materials.
• Troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
• Preventive maintenance practices for tooling.
