Job Description
The University of Iowa Health Care, Department of Urology is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant with a focus on general urology and specialized care for urologic oncology patients. This role involves providing direct care in an outpatient setting, exercising autonomy in medical decision-making under the guidance of a supervising physician. The successful candidate will contribute to quality care and positive patient outcomes within an interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities
• Exercise clinical competency and expertise in general urology with an emphasis on providing specialized care in the area of urologic oncology
• Function independently and/or as a member of an interdisciplinary team to plan, deliver, and evaluate health care for a defined patient population
• Perform medical diagnostic, therapeutic procedures, and prescribe, dispense or deliver medications when a collaborative practice agreement is in place
• Conduct independent clinics for selected urology return patients
• Provide anticipatory guidance and counseling to patients/families
• Document patient assessment and plan of care in the medical record and generate appropriate health reports for outgoing correspondence
• Initiate and coordinate referrals to other health care team members or agencies as needed
• Serve in a consultative or resource capacity to other divisions, the department, and the community as needed
Requirements
• Must comply with registration and licensure requirements as specified by the Iowa Board of Physician Assistant Examiners which include graduation from an accredited PA educational program and/or certification by the NCCPA
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills is required
• Evidence of ability to function with a high degree of independence while actively collaborating with other health care team members
• Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Iowa
• Previous patient care experience in urology is desirable
• 1-3 years experience in an outpatient health care setting is desirable
• No visa sponsorship available
