Physician Assistant, Radiation Oncology

Tennessee Oncology, a leading community-based cancer care specialist, is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to deliver high-quality care in a radiation oncology setting. This role involves comprehensive patient management from prevention and screening to active treatment and palliative care. The APP will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team, utilizing evidence-based practices to positively impact the health outcomes of cancer patients.

Responsibilities

• Assess the physical and psychosocial status of patients, including obtaining comprehensive health histories and performing physical exams

• Order and interpret findings of ancillary data, including laboratory and diagnostic tests

• Write prescriptions for medication, blood products, diagnostic studies, therapeutic measures, and post-discharge care in accordance with practice protocols

• Provide management for symptoms of cancer and side effects related to cancer treatment

• Educate patients and families on proposed treatment plans, utilizing age and culturally appropriate teaching methods

• Provide formal and informal education to staff in oncology care and precept new APPs

• Report patient information accurately and timely, and edit documentation

• Take call as required by clinic need

Requirements

• Current knowledge of oncology and primary care

• Ability to work independently

• License to practice as RN or PA in the state of Tennessee required

• Master's degree in nursing or certification as a Physician Assistant required

• National certification as NP (American Nurses' Credentialing Center or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners) or Clinical Nurse Specialist who meets criteria for certificate of fitness to prescribe medications, including AOCN, AOCNP and AOCN
