Position Summary
Regions Hospital is seeking a highly motivated Inpatient Pharmacist to provide pharmaceutical care and clinical expertise to patients. This position is responsible for providing pharmacy services, including inpatient dispensing and IV preparation. The role also includes working in a decentralized clinical capacity across a diverse patient population. Experience with inpatient dispensing and IV preparation, or a strong interest in these areas, is preferred.
Pharmacists provide professional pharmaceutical services by verifying orders, dispensing medications, and related supplies, monitoring patient medication therapies, providing drug information to healthcare providers, overseeing the work of direct support personnel, conducting patient medication histories, and performing related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:
• Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS Pharmacy degree or Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
• Previous experience in a central inpatient capacity (or comparable role)
• Currently functioning in a decentralized capacity (comparable role), or
Completion of a Post-Doctorate Pharmacy Program (i.e., residency or fellowship, e.g., American Society of Health System Pharmacists [ASHP] accredited PGY1 or PGY2 pharmacy residency), or
BPS Board Certification (e.g., Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist)
Licensure/Registration/Certification
• Currently licensed to practice pharmacy in the state of Minnesota
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
• Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
• Ability to meet and maintain departmental productivity standards.
• Ability to work cooperatively with health-system and pharmacy staff.
• Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule.
• Ability to set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond quickly to emergency requests.
• Ability to exercise sound professional judgment.
• Ability to communicate effectively (oral & written).
• Ability to meet the pharmaceutical care needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric, and other specialty groups (e.g., psychiatric, oncology, obstetric, medical, surgical, and rehabilitation patients).
• Ability to direct the work of others or coordinate workflow in the assigned area.
Preferred Qualifications
Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:
• One year of experience in a central inpatient role including sterile product preparation.
• Post-graduate training and/or BPS Board Certification in area of specialty.
