Job Summary

Ennoble Care is looking for a Per Diem Chaplain to work within and around the Arlington / Loudoun / Fairfax / Prince William County, VA area. This role will be as needed as we establish and grow our hospice operations in the area with the potential to become full time as the need for a chaplain grows.

The Hospice Chaplain, under the supervision of the Clinical Director, works as an integral part of an interdisciplinary team and provides spiritual, emotional and some bereavement care to support hospice patients, clients, and families in facilities and in-home settings. Must have knowledge of, and commitment to, hospice philosophy of care.

Responsibilities
• Provide pastoral/spiritual care to patients and/or families.
• Visit and minister with patients. Work with the Clinical Director and other appropriate persons to develop a spiritual care continuum of care appropriate for hospice patients/families.
• Conduct spiritual assessments and develop a care plan addressing physical, emotional, spiritual needs and goals, with the aim of a comprehensive patient assessment.
• Provide pastoral support at bedside, at funerals, memorials as requested and needed.
• Document visits with patients per Company and compliance policy.
• Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
• Organize Company-sponsored memorial services as appropriate.
• Provide emotional/spiritual support to staff as needed and appropriate.
• Participate in staff meetings, Interdisciplinary Team meetings and In-Services.
• Initiate and maintain communication with area inter-faith clergy.
• Facilitate spiritual care, acting as a bridge between patients, families and clergy to provide end-of-life sacramental support and pastoral care as requested.
• Educate staff about specific religious needs and issues affecting care and treatment.
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
• Report to and be accountable to the Clinical Director.
• Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure holistic patient care.
• Contribute value-added activities that promote well-being among clients, patients, families and staff.

Qualifications
• Master’s of Divinity Degree or equivalent in theological studies.
• At least four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE). Board Certified as a Chaplain or eligible for Board Certification under the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) or the College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy (CPSP).
• Excellent communication and pastoral skills. Ability to provide emotional energy and mental alertness in supporting patients and families through pain, suffering, death and grief.
• Good organizational and decision-making skills.
• Computer literacy and ability to perform comprehensive charting in the Company’s EMR system.

Licensure
• Certification or eligibility for certification through CPSP or ACPE.

Experience
• A minimum of two years of pastoral experience in a healthcare setting. Hospice experience is desirable; demonstrates empathy, compassion, sensitivity, and ability to support patients/families of inter-faith traditions.

Professionalism / Growth
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work with diverse ages, cultures, and religious backgrounds.
• Professional knowledge to collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers and other healthcare team members.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative and be accountable. Good physical and emotional health.
• Endorsement or ordination in a religious setting is desirable.
