Role Description The Patient Access, Sr. Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing patient access operations to ensure efficient, accurate, and compassionate service at UHealth facilities. This full-time, on-site role in Miami, FL includes managing patient registration processes, scheduling, insurance verification, and front-end revenue cycle activities to support timely and compliant patient care. The Sr. Manager supervises and develops patient access teams, monitors performance metrics, and implements process improvements to optimize workflows, reduce errors, and enhance the patient experience. This role collaborates closely with clinical, financial, and administrative leaders to align access procedures with organizational policies, regulatory standards, and strategic goals. The Sr. Manager also contributes to staff training, change management initiatives, and the adoption of new technologies and best practices in patient access.
Qualifications
• Demonstrated skills in Revenue Cycle Management and front-end financial processes to support accurate billing and reimbursement.
• Strong experience in Patient Registration, scheduling, and insurance verification to ensure timely and compliant patient access.
• Excellent Customer Service capabilities, including conflict resolution and communication, to foster a positive patient experience.
• Proven Training and staff development skills to coach, mentor, and build high-performing patient access teams.
• Experience in Healthcare Management, including operational oversight, policy implementation, and performance monitoring.
• Solid organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with healthcare information systems and electronic health records; familiarity with regulatory and payer requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CRCR, CHAM) preferred.
The Senior Manager, Patient Access provides operational and financial leadership, strategy development, and accountability for the clinical access front end revenue cycle functions for multiple hospital and provider-based clinics.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Recruits, supervises, trains, and disciplines staff, and prepares performance reports.
2. Ensures adequate staffing is maintained on a 24-hour basis.
3. Plans, organizes, and controls daily patient access operations to ensure department goals are met to include the timely and accurate registration of patients, financial counseling, care coordination, and proper payment collection.
4. Implements key business initiatives seamlessly across all critical areas and meets or exceeds established Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) (i.e. patient satisfaction, co-pay, previous balance, registration processing time, denials, etc.)
5. Establishes short and long-term goals in order to execute problem identification, data gathering, and implementation of strategic actions consistent with the organization’s mission.
6. Provides patient access reports to department faculty, administrators, and staff, and partners to proactively identify and correct patient access barriers.
7. Develops, reviews and updates departmental policies and procedures.
8. Makes recommendations for improvement of work methods and technology to increase productivity and streamline operations including long-range strategy which achieves its mission and makes consistent and timely progress.
9. Develops and implements the department’s annual budget. Identifies opportunities and makes recommendations for cost reduction.
10. Maintains current knowledge of rules and regulations and educates staff on any variations.
11. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
