Job Description
Practice palliative medicine on a part-time schedule — with the benefits, mentorship, and clinical support most flexible roles don’t give you.
Part-time, set recurring schedule (typically 2–4 days/week). Compensation is pro-rated from a $130,000–$160,000/year full-time-equivalent base based on your scheduled hours, plus benefits eligibility — medical/dental/vision, 401(k), PTO, CME allowance, and malpractice coverage.
Setting · License: Inpatient – Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston NJ · New Jersey NP or PA license required
About us & the role:
NJ Palliative Care Solutions is hiring a part-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to deliver hospital-based palliative care at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center for patients living with serious illness. A part-time role here means a predictable schedule and benefits — not as-needed coverage — with the full interdisciplinary team behind you. Coming from oncology, critical care, hospital medicine, hospice, or geriatrics? We offer a supported route into palliative practice.
Why you’ll want this role:
•
A set, recurring part-time schedule (typically 2–4 days/week) — predictable hours and real work-life balance.
•
Benefits eligibility (medical, 401(k), PTO, CME) — uncommon for flexible roles.
•
Mentorship and a structured ramp into palliative care — you won’t be thrown in alone.
•
Data-driven coaching and a true interdisciplinary team.
•
Mission-driven culture shaping how New Jersey delivers palliative care.
What you’ll do:
•
Deliver inpatient palliative care at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center — assessments, symptom management, goals-of-care conversations, and family meetings.
•
Partner with the hospital’s care teams and the NJPCS interdisciplinary team.
•
Complete timely documentation aligned with NJPCS clinical, billing, and quality standards.
What you bring:
•
Active New Jersey Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license and national board certification.
•
DEA + CDS registration, or ability to obtain by start date.
•
2+ years of relevant clinical experience preferred (palliative, hospice, geriatrics, oncology, critical care, or complex chronic care).
•
Palliative care certification (e.g., ACHPN / CHPN) preferred.
•
Strong communication, reliability, clinical judgment, and comfort working in interdisciplinary teams.
Compensation & benefits:
•
Pro-rated from a $130,000–$160,000/year full-time-equivalent base, by scheduled hours.
•
Full benefits eligibility: medical / dental / vision, 401(k), PTO, CME allowance, and malpractice coverage.
•
A set, recurring schedule (typically 2–4 days/week) rather than as-needed per diem coverage.
•
Structured onboarding, workflow guidance, and EMR/documentation support.
