Job Requirements
The Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides advanced, patient-centered care to individuals with serious, chronic, and life-limiting illnesses across inpatient and outpatient settings. The NP works collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to manage complex symptoms, facilitate goals-of-care discussions, and support patients and families through serious illness trajectories.

Work Experience
Education & Training: Nurse Practitioner with appropriate Maryland licensure and credentialing to practice under the supervision of a physician in the state of Maryland. ANCC or Palliative & Hospice Medicine certification is preferred.
Work Orientation & Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of direct patient care experience in internal medicine or palliative care, hospice. Experience is appropriate to the management of chronic disease, end of life, comfort care and goals of care.
Skills & Abilities: Ability to (a) handle multiple priorities, (b) work independently, (c) take initiative in achieving expected results, and (d) handle confidential information. Demonstrated skill in: (a) making effective decisions, (b) quality improvement activity, (c) problem-solving, (d) crisis management, (e) organizing work, setting priorities, meeting deadlines, (f) attention to detail and follow through, (g) effective negotiation, (h) resource management, (i) ability to work successfully with diverse types of individuals including management, staff, external organizations and the general public.
