Job Description
Join a collaborative advanced practice provider (APP) team supporting outpatient hematology and oncology care at our Crystal Lake and Good Shepherd locations. This full-time opportunity offers 40 hours per week with a schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM — no weekends or holidays, plus one flex day per schedule period. You'll work closely with physicians and fellow APPs, with cross-coverage responsibilities shared across the team to ensure continuity of patient care.
## What You’ll Do
Provide comprehensive care in an outpatient setting, including hematology and oncology follow-up visits, chemotherapy education appointments, benign hematology consultations, and bone marrow biopsies and procedures. Manage inbox and triage, and take on occasional inpatient rounding opportunities. Assess, diagnose, and determine or alter treatment and management plans appropriate for age, acuity, and clinical condition — ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies, prescribing pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions, and providing health promotion and disease management counseling. You’ll manage patients as part of an interdisciplinary team, maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record, and perform office or hospital procedures in accordance with specialty practice.
## Qualifications
- Active PA license in the state(s) of practice and active PA national board certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
- Active DEA registration prior to hire.
- If practicing in Illinois: active Illinois Controlled Substance License prior to hire.
- Active BLS and/or ACLS, PALS, NRP as required by clinical practice prior to or within 6 months of hire.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Physician Assistant.
- No prior experience required — new graduates are welcome.
## Skills & Abilities
High level of clinical proficiency, excellent decision-making skills, and the ability to work both independently and as an effective member of a healthcare team. You should be comfortable with evolving technology and proficient with the electronic medical record. Strong communication, collaboration, relationship-building, organizational, and prioritization skills are essential.
## Physical Requirements
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and twist continuously throughout the workday. Functional speech, vision, touch, and hearing required. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist, up to 20 lbs over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance. Must operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.
## Compensation & Benefits
