About the role

Mission Health in Asheville, NC is seeking an Oncology Registered Nurse to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care to adult cancer patients. In this role, you will administer chemotherapy and related treatments, perform thorough assessments, and closely monitor patients for side effects and complications. You will educate patients and families on treatment plans, side effects, and symptom management, while collaborating with oncologists, pharmacists, and a skilled interdisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide direct oncology nursing care to adult patients undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, and related treatments
• Administer medications, infusions, and blood products while monitoring for adverse reactions
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and maintain accurate, timely documentation in the EMR
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, side effects, and symptom management
• Collaborate with oncologists, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Advocate for patient safety, comfort, and psychosocial support throughout the cancer care journey
• Participate in care conferences, quality improvement initiatives, and evidence-based practice projects
• Follow infection control, chemotherapy handling, and safety protocols in accordance with policy and regulations
• Precept and mentor new nurses or support staff as needed
• Communicate clearly with patients, families, and team members to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications & Requirements
• Current RN license in North Carolina or compact state eligibility
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Experience with chemotherapy administration and oncology protocols preferred
