Job Description
Coordinates new oncology programs/services and the enhancement of existing oncology programs/services. Collaborates with physicians, executive leadership, professionals, and the marketing team throughout the organization and community and assists in development and implementation of strategies, policies and procedures to support WMC mission and oncology service line goals.
Position Requirements
• Licensed by the State of Tennessee.
• Earned a nursing diploma or degree from a college or university.
• At least three years Oncology experience.
• Demonstrated leadership potential and positive communication skills.
• Coordination of Patient Care Delivery for Health Services related to cancer
• Standard patient care equipment for services provided. The ability to work well under pressure, to function dependently and independently and to be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge to a variety of setting. Equipment: Network Computer System, Fax Machine,
• An Oncology/medical/surgical and ancillary units whose patient population ranges from pediatric through geriatric as well as an office setting.
• Able to communicate in English verbally and legibly.
• Able to stand/work for up to eight hours a day.
• Ability to travel when needed to area Cancer functions.
• Able to lift with assistance up to 50 lbs.
Key Results
• Coordinates the overall activities of the Oncology Program to ensure quality services, growth, and successful oncology certifications.
• Monitors oncology patient volumes and processes to ensure patients have access to services in a timely and efficient manner.
• Collaborates with executive leadership and physicians and other stakeholders to promote current and develop new oncology services and strategy.
• Maintains, monitors and ensures the Commission on Cancer Accreditation (COC) standards are maintained and provides oversight of activities and personnel to ensure all standards are met. Facilitates the completion of the Survey Application Record.
• Maintains, monitors and ensures the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers standards are maintained and provides oversight of activities and personnel to ensure all standards are met.
• Coordinate, reports on, and monitors quality assurance & improvement activities with the Director of Patient Safety and Quality.
• Participates in the development and management of the Oncology Navigation program.
• Oversees the operations, quality and tracking of new diagnosis of outsourced cancer registry companies if applicable and/or internal cancer registry personnel and data.
• Facilitates and attends Cancer Committee meetings and Tumor Conference meetings. Ensures appropriate number of conferences are being conducted for general and breast cancer volume.
• Demonstrates clinical knowledge by acting as an expert resource and works with providers and affiliated clinical staff to create a team approach to care. Coordinates and provides oncology services education.
• Develops and maintains business relationships with physicians and healthcare extenders to ensure growth opportunities.
• Assist with marketing strategies for Oncology Services in conjunction with the Marketing Department and the Cancer/Breast Committees.
