Job Summary:
We're seeking a dedicated Oncology Nursing Development Specialist who holds expertise in nursing professional development. As a Registered Nurse, you will play a pivotal role in boosting the competence and growth of nursing learners. You will collaborate with nursing leadership to manage competency, enhance clinical education, and guide new colleagues through onboarding and orientation.
As an integral member of our nursing leadership team, you will ensure alignment between regional nursing professional development and practice excellence within the Hartford HealthCare system.
Key Responsibilities:
• Learning Facilitator: Design and implement educational programs addressing knowledge and practice gaps through assessments and evaluations.
• Collaborative Partner: Work closely with nursing leadership to evaluate learning needs and create programs that enhance clinical competencies.
• Role Development: Promote professional nursing practices, adhering to ANA standards and supporting the continuum from novice to expert.
• Mentor: Guide ongoing professional development for nursing colleagues, providing support across various educational settings.
• Orientation: Develop and assess onboarding programs for new hires, ensuring their successful transition into their roles.
• Change Agent: Employ change management strategies to improve systems at multiple levels.
• Champion of Scientific Inquiry: Foster a culture of inquiry and evidence-based practice to enhance patient care.
• Competency Management: Utilize tools to document and evaluate nursing competencies during critical phases of practice.
Qualifications:
We ask that you have:
• A minimum of 3 years of active clinical nursing experience, with at least 1 year in an acute care setting.
• Previous oncology clinical experience is required.
• At least 1 year of experience in a teaching capacity is preferred; nursing professional development experience is a plus.
• A valid Registered Nurse license from Connecticut Department of Public Health before your start date.
• NPD or Clinical Specialty Certification within two years of hire; chemotherapy certification preferred.
• BLS certification is required.
Education:
A BSN is required, while an MSN or enrollment in an MSN program is highly preferred.
