Job Summary:
The Oncology Nursing Development Practitioner is a vital Registered Nurse who influences professional growth and competency in nursing practice. Working closely with nursing leadership, you will support learners by fostering clinical education, onboarding, and the management of competencies—all within the framework of Nursing Professional Development standards set forth by the American Nurses Association.
This role is a critical component of our nursing leadership team, promoting alignment with regional Nursing Professional Development and practice excellence across the Hartford HealthCare system.
Key Responsibilities:
• Learning Facilitator: Utilize educational design and adult learning principles to address and resolve identified knowledge and skills gaps.
• Collaborative Partner: Work with nursing leadership to assess needs, develop and evaluate educational programs, and support clinical competencies.
• Role Development: Advocate for high standards in nursing practice and patient care in line with ANA standards.
• Mentor: Contribute to the advancement of nursing by supporting the ongoing professional development of peers.
• Orientation: Design, facilitate, and evaluate onboarding programs for new staff.
• Change Agent: Implement change management strategies to improve processes at various organizational levels.
• Champion of Scientific Inquiry: Foster a culture of inquiry, promote the use of evidence in practice, and encourage knowledge sharing.
• Competency Management: Employ tools to assess and manage competencies for clinical practice.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 3 years of active clinical nursing experience, with at least 1 year in an acute care setting.
• Previous Oncology clinical experience is a must.
• Preferred: 1 year of teaching experience and nursing professional development experience.
• Must hold a Registered Nurse license from the CT DPH prior to hire.
• NPD or Clinical Specialty Certification required within two years of hire/transfer; Chemo Certification preferred.
• BLS certification is required.
Education:
• BSN is required; MSN or enrollment in an MSN program is highly preferred.
