Oncology Nurse Practitioner

Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join their team, assisting physicians in patient care and education. This role involves comprehensive patient assessment, treatment planning, and participation in clinical trials. The successful candidate will contribute to providing world-class cancer care within a nationally recognized oncology practice.

• May be expected to work at any FCS location to help meet business needs as directed by the collaborating physician.

Responsibilities

• Assess the physical and psychosocial status of patients through interviews, health history, physical examinations, and diagnostic studies.

• Write prescriptions for medication, blood products, diagnostic/follow-up studies, therapeutic measures, and post-discharge care according to practice protocols.

• Determine patient eligibility for clinical trials based on findings.

• Interpret and evaluate findings from studies and tests.

• Relay appropriate patient care information to the collaborating physician.

• Administer therapeutic measures and obtain specimens as prescribed.

• Provide on-call coverage and perform hospital rounds as needed.

• Triage patients to determine the urgency of physician evaluation.

Shift & Schedule

• Will be expected to work overtime when given sufficient notice of required overtime.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, master's degree in nursing or post-masters nurse practitioner certificate program.

• Current license/registration to practice in the state of Florida, prescriptive privileges or eligible to apply.

• Certification from American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or the Oncology Nurses Certification Corporation (ONCC).

• BLS certified.

• Leadership skills necessary to direct others toward objectives that contribute to the successful treatment of patients.

• Analytical skills necessary to evaluate patients' status, healthcare procedures/techniques, and to monitor quality of patient care.

• Fiscal skills to monitor and control costs and revenue.

• Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion while performing duties.

• Strong interpersonal skills to include effective verbal and written communication.

• Solid time management with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
