The Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute offers a unique, coordinated network of services for our cancer patients, led by an integrated team of talented and compassionate caregivers and physicians, utilizing the latest technology.
We are seeking a skilled Nursing Educator who is a Registered Nurse with experience and expertise to foster professional growth and competence among our learners. In this role, you will collaborate with nursing leadership to enhance competency management, education, professional development, policy standardization, and the onboarding process for new team members.
Key Responsibilities:
• Orientation: Develop, facilitate, conduct, and evaluate onboarding programs and update training as roles and responsibilities evolve.
• Learning Facilitator: Implement the educational design process and utilize adult learning principles to identify and address knowledge and practice gaps through effective assessment and outcome evaluation.
• Competency Management: Employ tools to assess knowledge, skills, abilities, and performance during various phases of practice, including initial and ongoing competency evaluations.
• Collaborative Partner: Work closely with nursing leadership to identify learning needs, create training programs, monitor clinical competency, and support action plans. Participate in the development of inter-professional learning activities.
• Role Development: Promote high-quality patient care and professional nursing practice in accordance with ANA standards, supporting a theory-based approach throughout the continuum of nursing practice.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor's degree required.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years in active clinical nursing, with at least 1 year in Oncology Nursing.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to develop, deliver, and assess educational programs; knowledge of high reliability and LEAN process improvement strategies; proven leadership skills focused on quality improvement in patient care; understanding of adult learning principles; familiarity with unit-based orientation plans; excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; capacity to work both independently and collaboratively in a team.
Additionally, candidates must be able to travel between clinical sites in the East Region as needed.
