## About the role

The MSL/Sr. MSL serves as the local medical voice of AZ in the disease area of interest, thoracic cancer, and builds a local medical strategy to improve patient care and outcomes in their territory. The MSL/Senior MSL is an established field-based professional with extensive scientific, clinical and therapeutic area expertise responsible for providing medical and scientific support for Astra. Zeneca's oncology marketed products, new indications for current products, and compounds in development.

This role expects a professional who can establish themselves as a trusted scientific advisor and peer to both internal collaborators and external HCPs, function as an expert in response to scientific questions, and synthesize HCP insights from multiple HCP segments within a region. You will serve as a point of reference for integrating science into proposed business strategies, training, and resources, and you will summarize research findings into compelling narratives for various HCP segments.

You will build collaboration across Medical Affairs, Commercial, and Development, drive guideline sharing within and outside the organization, and help apply guidelines to work processes within Field Medical Affairs. The role also serves as a lead for clinical trials, research activities, and special projects and involves coaching other team members to develop strong working relationships across settings such as academia, hospitals, managed markets, and private practices.

### How the work is done

Expect to support team members' creative and innovative ideas while recognizing contributions to team and project success. You will provide input on MSL training content, assist with MSL onboarding, and serve as a 'buddy' to new MSL hires. In addition, you may lead MSLs in responsibilities for congress scientific coverage and data synthesis support.

This position requires travel: Ability to travel (40-60% by car and plane domestic).

Territory: THIS TERRITORY INCLUDES WASHINGTON DC, BALTIMORE, PARTS OF VIRGINIA AND WEST VIRGINIA.

### Who we're looking for

An advanced scientific degree is required. Specifically: Pharm D, MD/DO, Ph. D, PA or NP in a relevant health science or clinical discipline. Doctorate strongly preferred in a health science or clinical discipline. MSL experience preferred. Oncology experience is preferred.

Candidates should demonstrate expertise in delivering customer-related outcomes in a targeted field/territory and the ability to impact Medical Affairs and MSL strategies on a regional level. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required to effectively communicate scientific data to internal and external customers. You should be able to work independently and in groups, navigate a matrixial environment, and demonstrate leadership, initiative, problem-solving, and excellent project management ability.

### Compensation and benefits

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $174,455-$261,682. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles) or to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles).
