In this role, you will leverage your oncology expertise with a focus on value-based strategy and transformation. This position moves beyond traditional medical review by integrating utilization management with collaborative engagement and innovation.
Core Responsibilities
• Clinical Review & Peer Collaboration
• Act as the physician reviewer for oncology cases that do not initially meet medical necessity criteria, utilizing evidence-based guidelines to guarantee high-quality, cost-effective care.
• Engage in peer-to-peer discussions with oncologists to clarify determinations and collaborate in aligning practice patterns with quality outcomes.
• Support clinical reviewers as a subject matter expert and valuable resource.
• Practice & Physician Engagement
• Participate actively in engagement sessions with oncology practices, sharing best practices and advocating for the adoption of evidence-based pathways.
• Build trusted relationships with oncologists to foster sustainable behavior change that enhances patient outcomes.
• Support initiatives aimed at reducing unwarranted variation and improving quality at the practice level.
• Internal Strategy & Value Initiatives
• Work closely with Evolent's clinical leadership to design, build, and execute innovative value-based initiatives in oncology.
• Provide insights on opportunities for innovation, clinical algorithms, and care models that advance transformation in specialty care.
• Collaborate with operational and analytical teams to evaluate the impact of initiatives and uncover continuous improvement opportunities.
• Participate in audit processes to verify the accuracy of advance payment model payouts, ensuring alignment with clinical documentation and performance metrics.
• Compliance & Quality
• Ensure all reviews and engagements comply with URAC, NCQA, and internal quality standards.
• Document peer interactions and clinical decisions accurately and promptly.
• Engage in training and inter-rater reliability processes.
Qualifications
• MD/DO/MBBS with board certification in Medical Oncology or Pediatric Oncology.
• At least five (5) years of relevant experience post-residency, with active clinical practice preferred within the last two years.
• Current, unrestricted medical license (multiple state licenses preferred or willingness to obtain).
• Proven leadership in practice transformation, value-based care initiatives, or clinical quality improvement.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence physician behavior.
• Energetic, curious, and committed to shaping the future of oncology care delivery.
• Not under sanction or exclusion from Medicare/Medicaid programs.
To ensure a secure hiring process, we conduct several identity verification steps, including the submission of government-issued photo ID. Comprehensive background checks, in-person I-9 verification, and possible drug screening will be carried out prior to employment.
