Overview
Evolent partners with health plans and providers to achieve better outcomes for patients with complex and costly health conditions. The Performance Suite Medical Director in Medical Oncology will advance value‑based care models that prioritize clinical excellence, patient‑centered outcomes, and system‑wide impact.
What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will combine your clinical oncology expertise with a focus on value‑based strategy and transformation, integrating utilization management with collaborative engagement and innovation.
•
Team Leadership & Performance Management
Lead and manage a team of medical oncologists responsible for reviewing oncology cases, establishing performance expectations, monitoring quality and efficiency, and coaching for professional growth. Drive accountability while fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
•
Practice & Physician Engagement
Actively participate in engagement sessions with oncology practices, share best clinical practices, support practice‑level transformation initiatives, and foster trusted peer relationships to encourage sustainable behavior change.
•
Internal Strategy & Value Initiatives
Collaborate with clinical leadership on designing, building, and executing new value initiatives; provide input on innovation, clinical algorithms, and models of care; partner with operational and analytics teams to assess impact and identify continuous improvement opportunities; participate in audit processes to validate payment model accuracy.
•
Compliance & Quality
Ensure all reviews and engagements align with URAC, NCQA, and internal quality standards; document peer interactions and clinical decisions; participate in training and inter‑rater reliability processes.
Qualifications
•
MD/DO/MBBS with board certification in Medical Oncology.
•
Minimum five years post‑residency experience; active clinical practice within the last two years preferred.
•
Current, unrestricted medical license (multiple state licenses preferred or willingness to obtain).
•
Leadership experience in practice transformation, clinical operations, people management, value‑based care, or clinical quality improvement.
•
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills; proven ability to influence physician behavior.
•
Energetic, curious, and passionate about shaping the future of oncology care delivery.
•
Not under sanction or exclusion from Medicare/Medicaid programs.
Technical Requirements
High‑speed internet over 10 Mbps at home; call center employees must be able to plug directly to the home internet router.
Compensation & Benefits
The base salary range for this position is $270,000–$340,000, location specific. Evolent offers comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, to qualifying employees.
