Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Oncology Infusion Registered Nurse (Outpatient) to join our specialized healthcare team. This role involves providing comprehensive outpatient infusion services for oncology patients, ensuring safe and effective administration of chemotherapy and other infusion therapies. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, familiarity with EMR/EHR systems, and a compassionate approach to patient care. Experience with complex medical procedures, critical care, and diverse patient populations is highly valued to support our commitment to delivering exceptional outpatient oncology services.
Responsibilities
• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive infusions following established protocols and safety standards
• Monitor patient vital signs, assess responses to treatment, and manage adverse reactions or complications promptly
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical documentation using EMR/EHR systems such as OncoEMR
• Educate patients on infusion procedures, medication side effects, and post-treatment care instructions
• Ensure aseptic technique during IV insertions, catheter care, and medication administration to prevent infections
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, pharmacists, and case managers to coordinate patient care plans
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments prior to infusion sessions, including reviewing medical history and current condition
• Adhere strictly to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and privacy
• Participate in ongoing training related to new therapies, infusion techniques, or hospital protocols
• Maintain a sterile environment during procedures and ensure all equipment is properly sterilized and functioning
Experience
• Must have active Florida RN license (OCN preferred)
• Proven experience in IV infusion therapy within outpatient or hospital settings; experience with chemotherapy administration preferred
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as OncoEMR for accurate documentation
• Knowledge of oncology-specific medications, infusion protocols, and side effect management
• Experience with aseptic technique, catheter care (including PICC lines), and medication administration in a clinical setting
• Prior experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, or patients with complex chronic conditions is desirable
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications related to oncology nursing or infusion therapy are a plus
• Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation processes involved in oncology care
