Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Oncology Infusion Nurse, where your expertise will directly impact the lives of patients battling cancer. This vital role involves administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other targeted treatments in a compassionate, patient-centered environment. You will work closely with our providers team to deliver safe, effective infusion therapies while providing education and emotional support to patients and their families. Duties
• Prepare and administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other infusion medications following strict aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
• Monitor patient responses during and after treatment, assessing vital signs, managing side effects, and responding promptly to adverse reactions.
• Educate patients on treatment plans, potential side effects, and self-care strategies to promote comfort and understanding.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic and Intellidose , ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Conduct patient assessments including physical examinations, vital signs measurement, and review of medical history related to oncology treatments.
• Ensure all infusion equipment is sterile, properly maintained, and ready for use; perform catheter care and manage IV infusions efficiently.
• Proven experience with IV infusion administration, catheterization, aseptic technique, and venipuncture.
• Familiarity with oncology treatments, chemotherapy protocols, and supportive care medications, with OCN certification.
• Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology related to cancer treatments, and medication administration procedures.
• Experience working in oncology settings such as hospitals with Level I or Level II trauma centers or outpatient infusion clinics.
• Ability to respond swiftly in critical situations including acute pain management or adverse reactions during infusions.
• Excellent patient assessment skills combined with compassionate communication to support patients through their treatment journey.
