Department Overview
As an advanced practice provider in our dedicated Oncology department, you will play a crucial role in delivering top-tier medical and educational services to patients under the supervision of an experienced physician. • Enjoy a flexible 4-day workweek with 10-hour shifts, and participate in a manageable call rotation of one weekend and two weekdays each month.
Job Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions, focusing on assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments, including detailed histories, physical exams, and symptom evaluations.
• Order, interpret, and manage necessary diagnostic tests and lab results specific to oncology care.
• Develop and tailor treatment plans that include chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and supportive care interventions.
• Monitor patient response to treatments, adjusting plans as necessary.
• Manage symptoms and side effects of cancer treatments, such as pain, nausea, and fatigue.
• Educate patients and their families on disease processes, treatment options, and self-care strategies.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of oncologists, pharmacists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic patient care.
• Facilitate referrals to specialists and supportive services, including clinical trials.
• Document all patient interactions and care protocols in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Engage in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education to stay current in hematology and oncology practices.
• Provide on-call coverage as required, outside of standard working hours.
Qualifications:
• Master's, post-master's, or doctoral degree from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice.
• DEA permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice.
• Relevant certification as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or comparable qualifications.
• Experience in hematology/oncology preferred but not mandatory.
