Nurse Practitioner - Radiation Oncology

Practice Info

• Operates as a premier cancer center providing integrated care for cancer and blood-related diseases

• Position functions under the general supervision of a radiation oncologist

• Practice environment includes exposure to blood borne pathogens, toxic or caustic chemicals, and ionizing radiation common to an oncology/hematology clinic

Responsibilities

• Provides patient assessments through patient exams, medical history, interpretation of diagnostic procedures, and development and implementation of patient treatment plans

• Provides consultation and education as a highly specialized practitioner within scope of practice

• Manages follow-up patients after treatment completion

• Functions independently as an advance practice registered nurse practitioner (NP) or physician assistant (PA) and consults with or refers patients to other health care providers or agencies as appropriate

• Provides diagnostic and pharmacologic management of the disease process and treatment side effects through ongoing assessment, intervention and education in collaboration with the physician

• Provides knowledge in area of clinical expertise throughout the illness trajectory to members of the multidisciplinary team

Compensation

• Salary DOE - $125,000-$182,000

Requirements

• A minimum of a Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program for nursing education and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program

• Three (3) years' experience in oncology nursing preferred or experience and knowledge in the management of the physiologic and psychological effects of cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment

• State Licensure

• Current BLS certification

• Previous experience as oncology nurse practitioner or in oncology in an advanced practice role preferred
