Job Description
Geisinger's Cancer Institute is seeking an Advanced Practitioner to join their Palliative Medicine team at Geisinger Medical Center (GMC) in Danville, PA. This role involves assessing and treating patients, interpreting diagnostic tests, and prescribing medical therapies. The Advanced Practitioner will support inpatient Palliative Medicine needs, ensuring safe and ethical care while collaborating with physicians and other staff.

Responsibilities
• Assess and establish a presumptive diagnosis and implement treatment plans for their patient population.
• Make accurate and complete entries into the electronic medical record.
• Order and interpret diagnostic testing and consults as appropriate and prescribe appropriate medical therapy utilizing evidenced based practice.
• Prescribe, adjust or discontinue medications or therapies as appropriate.
• Evaluate and report to collaborating physician any circumstances or approaches to medical management or test results that present a significant risk to patient's health or well-being.
• Perform procedures within the scope of practice of the nurse practitioner license.
• Communicate with collaborative physician, patient, PCP and referring staff through telephone or other means of correspondence.
• Instill confidence in patient acting as their advocate by providing safe, ethical care and health education to the patient and their family in a language that they can understand.

Requirements
• Master's Degree-Nurse Practitioner (Required)
• Basic Life Support Certification
• Certified Nurse Practitioner - American Academy of Nurse Practitioners
• Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania)
