Essential Job Function:
• Engage in the clinical examination and management of patients across various medical environments consistently to meet the proficiency standards outlined by their profession with oversight from the overseeing doctor.
• Residents have the authority to record orders and progress notes in patient charts, but attending physicians maintain accountability for the management of patients attended to by residents.
• Carry out the specific protocols designated by each program director while being directly supervised by the attending physician.
• After completing the necessary number of procedures to a satisfactory level, the resident's eligibility to perform the procedure without direct supervision will be determined by the program director.
• Gradually assume more duties related to patient care as per the resident's education, capabilities, and prior experience.
• The resident's autonomy and level of responsibility will be evaluated by the program director, supervising physician, and teaching faculty.
• Maintain regular communication with supervising physicians and care teams to discuss evaluation outcomes, physical exam details, diagnostic test analysis, and proposed treatments.
• Take an active part in the educational and scholarly events within the program.
• Take part in suitable institutional boards and councils that influence their education and patient care, like quality assurance and enhancement efforts, and more.
• Establish a personalized educational strategy with input from instructors to enhance career advancement.
• Adhere to all policies and protocols, which encompass the rules of ethics established by the licensure board and the guidelines of any connected institution where the resident is placed.
• Executes any other responsibilities as designated.
Education:
• Required: Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program (Master s or Doctoral) or an accredited Physician Assistants program Master's Degree Physician Assistant studies.
Experience:
• Required: No experience as a licensed APP is required.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
• Required: Valid NC RN and Nurse Midwife or NP license OR NC PA license. Board Certified within 1 year of date of hire by either the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) for PA's OR the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the National Certification Corporation (NCC) for NP's OR the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) or The American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB)BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider Neonatal Resuscitation Protocol (NRP) Certification required for Neonatal Advanced Practice Providers IVC Certified within 90 days of employment for Behavioral Health Advance Practice Provider. Must possess and maintain a current, unrestricted DEA registration in accordance with federal and state regulations.
