Nurse Practitioner

Cone Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for our Cancer Center in the Healthcare & Medical Services department. Open to new graduates, this role provides comprehensive oncology care, including patient assessments, treatment planning, and ongoing management in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive evaluations and ongoing management for hematology/oncology patients in the Cone Health Cancer Center under the supervision and collaboration of attending physicians.
• Conduct detailed histories and physical exams, formulate differential diagnoses, and develop evidence-based treatment and follow-up plans.
• Order, interpret, and act upon appropriate laboratory tests, imaging, and other diagnostics to support safe and effective cancer care.
• Manage chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive care regimens in accordance with established protocols and best practices.
• Monitor and address treatment-related side effects, symptoms, and complications, escalating care when needed.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment options, medication regimens, symptom management, and survivorship or palliative care resources.
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, navigators, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to coordinate holistic patient-centered care.
• Document all patient encounters, care plans, and communications in the electronic health record accurately and in a timely manner.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, adherence to clinical pathways, and safety standards within the Cancer Center.
• Support and participate in clinical research activities as appropriate, including following research protocols and educating eligible patients about clinical trials.
• Engage in continuing education, mentorship, and professional development activities offered by Cone Health to build oncology expertise.
