Job Description
Sentara is hiring a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in Woodbridge, Virginia
This is a Flexi, Rotating shift opportunity
This is an on-call position to cover 1 week of on call per month and 2 holidays (one summer, one winter)
The schedule is 3 pm-7 am on Monday-Friday, and 24 hours on Saturday - Sunday
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs all diagnostic Nuclear Medicine Technologist I responsibilities in addition to the following: Therapies, dual modality NM/CT, Lymphoscintigraphy, or hospital based / standing ED. Performs to all quality control and quality assurance standards as prescribed by all state, federal, and local agencies. Provide the best patient care and practice radiation safety standards at all times.
Conducts general Nuclear Medicine imaging of patients, within scope of demonstrated competency under the direction of a qualified physician, to include: positioning of patient for demonstration of correct anatomy/pathology. Competent in preperation, dose management and administration of radiopharmceuticals, radioisotopes , operation of radiation producing equipment, operation of the electronic radiology systems, preparation of patient room/equipment, provides patient and family education and maintains adequate supply inventory. Explains examination procedure and discharge instructions to patient and completes departmental documentation. Complies with all radioactive activity monitoring and documentation. Performs to all quality control and quality assurance standards as prescribed by all state, federal, and local agencies. Intravenous (IV) Competency required.
Qualifications
• Trade School degree in Radiologic Technology or Bachelor's in Nuclear Medicine or related field required.
• Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT)
• ARRT Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT)
• Registry-eligible graduates in lieu of ARRT or CNMT must be registered within one year of hire.
