Position: NP/PA/CNS - Bone Marrow Transplant (Inpatient)

Job Overview

This role is part of a collaborative team that includes residents, fellows, attendings, and staff caring for outpatient clinic patients. The position reports to the Medical Director or approved staff physician and works with PCCs, staff nurses, and discharge coordinators in planning, implementation, and evaluation of medical and nursing care. Responsibilities include primary and urgent medical management, emergency stabilization of critically ill patients, teaching residents and medical students, staff development and education, patient education, and discharge planning.

Education

Master’s degree in Nursing
• Required (PA):
Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant medicine or Health Sciences, or graduate of an approved Physician Assistant Training Program
Work Experience

• Preferred: 3 years of related working experience
Certifications
• NP:
Current license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of practice;
Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner ANCC or AANPCP Certified;
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) / Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification from the American Heart Association;
Eligible for prescriptive authority in the state of practice as outlined by the State Board of Nursing

License as a Physician Assistant in the state of practice, NCCPA Certified;
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) / Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification from the American Heart Association;
Eligible for prescriptive authority in the state of practice as outlined by the State Board of Medical Examiners
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
• Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and job information retrieval
• Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to present information clearly and professionally
• Proficiency with Windows applications and role–specific software packages
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Work knowledge of Advanced Practice Provider policies and protocols at department, campus, and system levels
• Reliable transportation; ability to travel throughout and between facilities
• Flexibility for a 24/7, weekend, holiday, and on‑call schedule
Job Duties
• Utilize the approved medical practices process for all patient care
• Provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to patient ages in assigned areas
• Maintain an inquiry attitude toward medical practices and patient care outcomes; may develop research methodology
• Provide education experiences to patient families, staff, other health professionals, and the community
• Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy and appropriate communication style
• Perform other related duties as required
Physical and Environmental Demands

The role requires medium work lifting 20–50 pounds occasionally, 10–25 pounds frequently, and greater loyees must stand for prolonged periods, stoop, bend, reach, and grab. Duties routinely involve exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, hazardous medications, and waste. The position is performed in a patient‑care setting with risk of communicable diseases and hazardous materials.
