Role Description





The MEP/Systems Project Manager is an on-site position based in the Greater Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. This role is responsible for overseeing and coordinating mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and low-voltage/building systems throughout all phases of complex construction projects, ensuring effective coordination among design teams, general contractors, trade partners, vendors, and project stakeholders.





Day-to-day responsibilities include:





* Managing project schedules, milestones, deliverables, and critical MEP/system activities.

* Creating and managing scope-specific RFPs, coordinating bidding activities, and evaluating bids and proposals.

* Drafting, negotiating, and executing contracts and agreements with contractors and vendors.

* Initiating, reviewing, expediting, responding to, and distributing submittals, RFIs, and approvals.

* Tracking and expediting permits, submittals, RFIs, procurement, and other critical project deliverables.

* Monitoring field installation progress and quality, identifying potential issues, and driving timely resolution.

* Coordinating and documenting field inspections to verify compliance with design documents, applicable codes, and project requirements.

* Coordinating material and equipment logistics, including deliveries, storage, sequencing, and installation requirements.

* Supporting systems integration, testing, startup, and commissioning activities.

* Maintaining accurate project documentation, action-item tracking, and reporting for project leadership.

* Actively participating in project, coordination, and field meetings and communicating project status, risks, and issues.

* Proactively identifying and resolving coordination, schedule, procurement, and field issues to keep projects on schedule and within scope.

* Collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams to ensure successful integration and turnover of building systems.





Qualifications





* Demonstrated experience in project management and coordination of MEP and building systems on complex construction projects.

* Strong expediting and follow-through skills, with the ability to drive timely completion of submittals, RFIs, permits, procurement, and approvals.

* Field inspection experience, including coordination of inspections and verification of installation quality, design intent, and code compliance.

* Strong logistics and procurement coordination capabilities, including material deliveries, equipment sequencing, and on-site coordination.

* Knowledge of healthcare, education, and/or aviation facility requirements, applicable building codes, and industry standards.

* Proficiency with construction project management tools, such as MS Project, Primavera P6, Procore, or similar platforms.

* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and MEP system schematics and communicate effectively with clients, contractors, design teams, and trade partners.

* Strong organizational, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety and quality.

* Demonstrated experience working in the field with general contractors, subcontractors, and trade partners; prior general contractor or construction management experience is highly desirable.

* Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.





Preferred Qualifications





* Professional engineering, construction, or other relevant license or certification.

* Experience managing MEP and building system packages from design through commissioning and turnover.

* Prior experience with healthcare, aviation, education, or other highly regulated facilities.

* Experience working for or with a general contractor, MEP contractor, or as an owner’s representative.

* Experience coordinating complex systems integration, testing, startup, and commissioning activities.

* Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple priorities and deliverables in a fast-paced construction environment.

* Strong understanding of construction sequencing, procurement, field coordination, and project controls.

* Ability to anticipate project risks and develop practical solutions before they impact schedule, cost, quality, or project objectives.
